Second Public Hydro One Meeting Set For Orillia

By Ken Hashizume, Bayshore Broadcasting (May 16, 2016) – A date is now set for the second public information session regarding the proposed Hydro One development in Orillia.

It will take place on Wednesday evening June 1st from 7 pm until 8:30 pm inside the Council Chambers at Orillia City Hall.

A motion to accept staff recommendation was passed at a Council Committee meeting and it is expected to get ratification by Council tonight’s (MON) regular meeting.

Councillor Sarah Valiquette-Thompson says this is a meeting for residents who didn’t get the opportunity to come to the first meeting or were able to get their questions answered.

She says they will be able to get answers from a panel of expertise and obtain as much information as possible.

Valiquette-Thompson says there were over 120 people that came to the first meeting.

She says because of the amount of people that showed up, some decided to leave early.

Valiquette-Thompson says she is elated that everyone from the first meeting in January will be back for the 2nd meeting.

Hydro One has proposed building a technological hub in the Horne Business Park,  if it can also acquire the distribution arm of Orillia Power.

They include Richard Bertolo and Rob Quail of Hydro One, the City’s legal advisor Mark Rodger, Orillia Power Corporation CEO Keith McAllister, and members of the Hydro One transition team led by Mayor Steve Clarke.
